Elden Clark

June 18, 1929 — October 1, 2014

Elden V. Clark, 85, passed away to the arms of his Lord, October 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving wife and devoted family. He was born June 18, 1929 in Caribou, the son of Aurissa (Curtis) and Seely Clark, Sr.
Elden married his sweetheart, Shirley, December 11, 1948. They made their home in Corinth for over 60 years before moving to Bangor in 2013. His greatest joys were family gatherings, his vegetable and flower gardens and mowing his lawn. His great grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He was a true friend and neighbor to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Elden worked on dairy and poultry farms and retired in 1999 after 21 years of working for the Maine Department of Transportation. He was a long time member of the Corinth Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley, of 66 years, whom he always called his “Angel”; his one and only daughter, Elaine; sons, Elden Clark, Jr. and Kenny Clark and his wife, Gail; grandchildren, Kevin Clark, Denny Clark and wife, Nicky, Mike Clark and wife, Heather, Vicki Lingley and husband, Dwight, Kenny Clark Jr. and wife, Melissa, Julie Sudsbury and husband, Stephen, Debbie Aptt and husband, Mark; great grandchildren, Chelsey, Gracie, Libby, Josh, Kim, and Dwight; sister, Virginia Elliott; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a special son-in-law, Neil Merrill; five sisters, Dorothy, Waneta, Madeline, Lottie, and Florence; and six brothers, Ben, Arnold, Seely, Jr., Sterling, George and Warren.
A funeral service will be held 2pm, Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Kirk Mellen of Corinth Baptist Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth, immediately following the service.
