Elaine Isabelle Buckley

BANGOR - I lost my wife, Elaine I. Buckley on Friday, September 18, 2026. She was born November 3, 1937. For 58 years, we shared each other's joys and the ups and downs of living. We pulled through it together, one helping the other overcome fatigues and sickness. In her last battle, a stoic, strong-willed woman who fought through so many painful procedures received the call to come home.

Elaine is survived by our son, Ken II; daughter, Jennifer Colangelo and her husband, Michael and their son, Michael; brother, Jim; and sister, Carol. A myriad of cousins, friends, and coworkers will miss her, for she was a delight to be with. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Ann (Bilotta) Bartlett.

Elaine shared a proud heritage with her mother, Ann, both being great cooks. Elaine painted and created crafts while keeping a wonderful home. Somehow, she managed to read a score of novels between picking peas, blueberries, and other fine farm produce. She was the undisputed champion yard and garage sale lady, and her picks brought delight to those she donated to. She worked at the First National, Viner's Shoe, and Shaw's as a front-end supervisor-a job she loved while raising two growing children.

Above all else, her greatest devotion and proudest role was as a mother. Demonstrating the extraordinary depth of her love and commitment to family, she chose to step away from her career to help raise her grandson, shaping his life with unwavering presence, care, and guidance.

She enjoyed two trips to England, a cruise to Mexico, and a honeymoon spent in Québec.

Fifty-eight years ago, Elaine stood between ballot boxes in Bangor City Hall as Jay Alley read our marriage vows. The old city hall eventually became a pile of rubble and then a plain parking lot. Things change, and Elaine has now left us. But the warmth and joy she shared with us all will never be forgotten.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2026, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Attendees are encouraged to line up at the Superintendent's Lodge at 1048 State St., Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
