Edith Cushing

BREWER - Edith L. "Dede" Cushing, 94, passed away August 20, 2025, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born June 30, 1931, in Brewer, the daughter of Ernest A. and Helen D. (Webber) Moore.

Dede was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1949. Shortly after, she began working as an operator for New England Telephone Company. After having her son, she became a stay-at-home mother. In 1975, she started working for Bangor Hydro Electric until her retirement, August 31, 1992.

In addition to her parents, Dede was predeceased by her husband, John J. Cushing Jr.; brother, Ernest Moore and sister, Betty Pittman. Surviving, are her son, John "Joe" Cushing III and his wife, Terri, of Hampden; grandchildren, John Cushing IV, of Dexter and Mallory Cushing, of Brewer; great-grandchildren, Devon Cushing, Camryn Spack, Lydia Wyman Mason Brown; brother, John Moore and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
