Earl Orcutt

August 15, 1936 — October 13, 2025

Eddington - Earl Silsby (Sib) Orcutt, 89, passed away October 13, 2025. His battle with cancer was far too aggressive to fight for a second time.

He was the son of Earl E. and Luella A. (Mann) Orcutt and husband of Joan F. (Burgess) Orcutt for 69 years.

Sib was a respected Foreman for many years in the Cutting Room at Viner and Ansewn Shoes. He left the Shoe Factories in 1983 to pursue his love for carpentry. He was soon joined by his son, Greg. They built many houses, additions, cupboards, the occasional rocking horse, and did general remodeling in the area. He took great pride in his work and it showed in every project.

Back in the day, he and Joan enjoyed golf, snowmobiling, camping, trips to Prince Edward Island with Matthew and Meghan and the Burgess Family and get-togethers with family and friends.

He leaves behind his wife, Joan; daughter, Denise (Mike) Knowles of Eddington; son, Greg Orcutt of Bangor; sister, Betty-Lou Young of Iowa; her daughters, Gail, Paula and Nichole; and sister-in-law, Shirley Hurry of Virginia, but his pride and joy and most cherished, are his grandchildren, Matthew Knowles, Meghan Knowles (Donald Garriepy) of Holden, and Kevin Travis (Melissa) of Kenduskeag and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lacey and Logan Knowles, Ellie McLaughlin, Rylee and Kaylee Garriepy, and Alex, Justin and Ryan; along with many many nieces and nephews.

Papa took great pride watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and shared that love
and pride with everyone he spoke to.

He was predeceased by his parents; daughter-in-law, Sheila (Keeler) Orcutt; granddaughter, Melissa Travis; and brother-in-law, Bob Young. He was also predeceased by his large family of in-laws that were a big part of his life: Anna and Bill Bart, Gene and Don Greene, Ailene & Steve Seguino, Lucille and Arthur Cowallis, Dick and Phyllis Burgess, Dale & Lottie Burgess, Ernie and Ernestine Burgess, Lindy and Marion Burgess, and Geneva, Charlie, Joseph and Bobby Burgess.
