Dorothy Gorden

Dorothy E. (Walker) Gorden, 91, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. She was born July 4, 1934 in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of the late Maurice and Helen (Washburn) Walker. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Dorothy attended Glad Tidings Church of Bangor.

She is survived by her beloved son, Wayne Lavoie and wife, Paula, of Cape Coral, Florida; beloved daughter, Brenda Atkinson and husband, Wendell, of Warren, Maine; beloved brother, Richard Walker and wife, Joyce, of Bangor, Maine; grandchildren, Jennifer Thayer, Joseph Webb, Andrew Lavoie, Jodi Black, and Sarah Leonhardi. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her loving parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Maynard Gorden; brother, Robert Walker; and sisters, Betty Seaman and Jean Sample.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Brookings-Smith Funeral Home, 133 Center Street, Bangor, followed immediately by a 3:00 P.M. funeral service with Pastor Jason Bailey officiating.

The family invites all to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, immediately following the service.

Interment at the East Readfield Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
