Doris McCorison

January 29, 1923 — October 17, 2025

HANCOCK - Doris M. (Sloat) McCorison, 102, passed peacefully October 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at a Bangor Hospital. She was born January 29, 1923, in Presque Isle, Maine, the cherished daughter of Norman Benjamin and Clara (Armstrong) Sloat.

Doris lived a long and beautiful life filled with faith, family, and quiet strength. Over the years she wore many hats - bookkeeper, secretary, telephone operator, and even the proud owner of her own pizza shop. Whatever she did, she did with grace, hard work, and a smile that could light up a room.

A woman of deep faith, she prayed daily and found joy in the simple blessings of life. Writing poetry was her passion, and her words reflected the same kindness and wisdom she carried in her heart. When asked her secret to a long life, she would say, "You read and learn something new every day," advice she lived by right up until her final days.

Doris is survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly McCorison and her partner, Michael Jenkins, Genice Joyce and her fiancé, Johnny Russell, Traci and Michael Hambrock, Wendy Joyce, Harold Joyce, Heidi and Brian Burgess, Ellen and John Knappe; 10 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever carry her memory.

In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her siblings, her devoted husband, Norman McCorison Jr., and her children, Norman McCorison III, Doreen Joyce, and Brian McCorison.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has reunited with those she loved, and that her spirit lives on in the laughter, poems, and lessons she left behind.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared at BrookingsSmith.com
