Hermon, Maine - Doris Erikson, 91, died February 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, ME. She was born June 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Lawrence and Martha Erikson, both from Norway.
She was raised on a milk farm in upstate New York, in the town of Gilbertsville. Doris attended Morris High School and served as the majorettes' leader. She moved to Carmel, ME, in 1970 with her three children. She was employed by Howard Johnson's for more than 50 years. She moved to Hermon, ME, in 1999 and resided there until her passing.
She spent most of her time gardening and landscaping her residence and enjoying her grandchildren. She loved sitting on her patio, looking out at her gardens and back lawn.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Erikson. She is survived by her children, Shane and Debbie Bacon, Parris and Renee' Bacon of Hermon, and Kim and Bob Dyer of Ontario, New York; her niece, Mary Hartwell of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Jett, Tyra, Whitney, Paige, Erica, Nikki, and Christopher; and great-grandchildren, Elias, Danny, Chloe, Noah, Violet, Luka, Olivia, and Sawyer.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
She will be buried at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville, NY, with her immediate family.
