Donald W. Campbell, Sr.
Searsport
On Tuesday morning, February 23, 2026, Pastor Donald Campbell, 95, closed his eyes to this world and went to his Heavenly Home and into the arms of his Savior. He was born on May 30,1930 in Bangor, the son of William Fredrick and Louise Mary Campbell.
Pastor Don married the love of his life, Agnes Jean Spohrer on September 6, 1950. Their loving marriage lasted for the next 63 years until Aggie graduated into Heaven. They lived most of their life in Maine, except for three years when they took 4 small children and went to Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, N.Y. to prepare for the ministry. Upon returning to Maine, they began their ministry at Nealley's Corner Church where they faithfully served the Lord for the next 40 years. Pastor Don's preaching style was biblically centric sprinkled with his humble, passionate love for his Savior and his congregation. Until a couple weeks before he passed, Pastor Don still opened every Sunday morning service with prayer, where he often shared the deep affection, he felt as he looked over the faces of his church family. He was happiest when he was able to be with them while worshiping the Lord together.
Pastor Don had a servant's heart and enjoyed doing for others. He was a wonderful craftsman, and his beautiful carpentry can be found in many homes and in the church building at Nealley's Corner, to still be admired by many. In later years, Pastor Don would find great pleasure climbing onto his John Deere tractor, with a license plate that read "John 3:16", to mow most of the lawns on Warren Street for his neighbors just because he wanted to be a good neighbor. During the last year of his life, he lived at Harbor Hill in Belfast where he would spend his days drawing pictures; giving many to the staff that took care of him so well. He used his craftmanship and talents as a part of his ministry. He cared so much about his testimony and wanted nothing more than his neighbors, the staff and anyone he came in contact with to see the light of Christ through him.
He showed God's love every day and his family was of extreme importance to him. Most important to him, however, was that he shared the good news of the gift of salvation to anyone who would hear. His desire is that no person go into eternity without knowing Christ's saving grace.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Jean; a brother, Ashley Theodore; daughter, Diane Jean and son, William Frederick and grandsons, Eric and Joshua.
Surviving are his children, Donald "Bud" Campbell and his wife, Melanie of Southwest Harbor and Laughlin, NV, Ty Bishop of Bucksport, Jim Nute of Troy, Doug Campbell and his wife, Marie of Palmyra, Peter Campbell and his wife, Sonya of Detroit, and Matthew Campbell of Searsport; eleven grandchildren, Tiffany, Jill, Beth, Bella, Cory, Joey, Jamie, Jason, Aaron, Dustin and Luke; thirty one great grandchildren, Emma, Alyse, Grace, Katie, Jay, Sara, Nic, Kendra, Jordan, Josh, Ella, Liam, Riley, Noah, Elias, Marian, Gideon, Calab, Austin, Libby, Colby, Issac, Anna, Axel, Roxie, Jeremy, Ella, Hunter, Lexie, Krystal and Isaiah; ten great-great grandchildren, Eli, Sunshine, Obidiah, Grayson, Keeley, Silas, Thomas and three on the way.
Eight grandsons and granddaughters-in-law; as well as seven great grandsons and great-granddaughters-in-law.
Don was loved by nephews, nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to count.
He dearly loved his church family at Nealley's Corner Church where he and his wife pastored for 40 years and has attended for 64 years.
