Daniel Ledger

Hampden - A beautiful light has dimmed… Daniel Brock Ledger, 24, passed away August 20, 2013 as a result of a seizure. He was born in Presque Isle, February 7, 1989 the son of John and Diana (Greaves) Ledger. Daniel loved life and faced challenges with a smile and “can-do” attitude. People and their pets liked Dan and he liked them. He will be missed by his parents Jack and Diana; grand-father Floyd Ledger; Aunts and Uncles Jayne and Steve Bowler, Mary and Rick Walker, Kathy and Donald Cassidy, Ann Verrill, Jim Ledger, Donna and Mike Allen, and Laura and Randy Thornton. Dan will also be missed by his many cousins and his special friends Juli and Susan Shaw, Mary Jo and Corey Tardiff, and Frank Campbell; the staff at Schacht’s and Hampden Hardware stores, all the many loving neighbors on Cottage Street, Dan’s beloved black cat “Black Jack”, and many other relatives and friends. Dan had attended Hampden Academy and the United Technical Center in Bangor and was well liked by many students and staff including Mr. Weissman and all the Special Ed staff, Mr. Greenier and Mr. Wayne Jackson. More recently, Dan attended “Group” at MVRA and will be missed by the staff and consumers. Dan was predeceased by grandparents Donald and Marion Greaves, Al Ferro, and Grandmother Barbara Ledger. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Hampden Public Safety Responders, including first on the scene, Officer Bailey, Dan’s friend and resource officer from Hampden Academy. Also, to the staff at the Coronary Care Unit at EMMC who gave Dan 7 days of expert, compassionate care, including nurses Lori, Josh, Ken, Michelle, Julia, Joyce and Dr. Kulikowski. Dan’s spirit will shine on and benefit many through the efforts of John Macone and staff of the New England Organ Bank program. A private memorial mass will be held for the family. For all those who loved Dan, a reception will be held at McLaughlin's at the Marina, 100 Marina Road, Hampden, on Saturday, August 31st from 1:00-4:00pm. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
