Clifford Earl Overlock

Hermon, Maine - Clifford "Cliff" Earl Overlock, 85, passed away September 20, 2026, from a sudden illness. He was born in Hermon on August 7, 1941, the son of Maurice and Dorothy (Murray) Overlock.

Cliff grew up in Hermon and attended Hermon Schools. His vast working experience included employment with Pleasant Hill Dairy, B & A Railroad, C.M. Page, Cianbro, Sunrise Materials and Alan Dorr Construction. He was well known for his heavy equipment operating skills, especially from the cab of an excavator. He was proud to have been able to mentor his grandson, Nick, who continues to follow in his footsteps. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Jackie Jewett, who was the light of his life. Together they raised three daughters whom he was very proud of. Cliff's many interests included snowmobiling, camping, fishing, following the fairs, going on long rides with Jackie, and spending time with his family. He liked watching the Red Sox, the Patriots, NASCAR, and westerns. Cliff was a Mason, an Anah Shriner and was on the board of directors for the Penobscot Snowmobile Club. He was famous for his American chop suey, his love of steamed clams and Fords.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 65 1/2 years; daughters, Tammy Overlock (Brad) Curtis, Lisa (Mark) Pomeroy, and Peggy (Terry) Worster; grandchildren, Nick (Mandy) Pomeroy and Rachel (Chris) Wilbur, whom he was proud of for restoring the home where he was born and raised; stepgrandchildren, Brian (Lindsay) Worster, Tom (Sean) Worster, and Hannah (Sean) Soltys; great-grandchildren, Lilah Douglas, Noah Pomeroy, Corbin "Clifford" Wilbur, and Nolan Wilbur; and great-stepgrandchildren, Hayden and Blake Wilbur, Emma Worster, Quinn and Otto Soltys, and Arlo Worster. Cliff is also survived by brother, Marvin Overlock; sisters, Elaine Nowell and Sharon (Jason) Hamann; in-laws, Laughton (Kathe) Jewett, Judy, Joanne, and Jeannie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Never forgotten was his special Aunt Glenice.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Booker Hall, lower level of the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 US-2 E, Hermon, from 1 to 4 p.m., with memories to be shared at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Penobscot Snowmobile Club, c/o of Andy Witham, 469 Hampden Rd., Carmel, ME 04419.
