Cheryl L. Hanscom, "Sherry", 75 passed away following a short battle with cancer on January 26, 2026, at a Bangor hospital She was born on January 5, 1951, in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of James Cowan Sr. and Barbara Arnold-Kenney. In addition to her parents, Sherry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley Hanscom; her stepmother, Marilyn Cowan; her brother, Donald Cowan; and her sisters, Deanna Costa and Lori Kenney. She is survived by her five sons, Clyde Cowan, Shawn Cowan, Eric Cowan, Kevin Cowan, and Philip Cayford; her stepchildren, Todd Hanscom and Shelly Damon-Hanscom; daughter-in-law, Trina, as well as Sue, Shawna and Tara. Sherry also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Eric and his wife, Nichole, Brooke, Cole, and Jaxon and one great-granddaughter, Emily, with another great-granddaughter expected soon. She is further survived by her siblings, Lynne, Paula, Pam, Jayne, Lester, Jimmy, and Allen; her sweet and devoted dog, Sheena and many amazing friends whom she adored.

She was the kind of woman who always put others first. Loving, giving, and deeply caring, she devoted her life to taking care of those around her, often without a second thought for herself. Her presence brought comfort, and her actions spoke of a quiet strength rooted in compassion and selflessness. Her greatest gift was her heart. She cared for her family and friends with tireless devotion, unwavering kindness, and genuine generosity, making sure no one ever felt alone or forgotten. She was always giving small gifts and trinkets to show people she thought of them. To know her was to feel looked after and truly loved. Her legacy of selfless love will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are warmly invited to join us for a celebration of life on Sunday February 15, 2026 from 1-4pm at the Carmel Snowmobile Club, located at 194 Hampden Rd Carmel, ME.
