Charlotte A. Dow, 86, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born in Brewer on June 9, 1940, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Jude.

A graduate of Brewer High School and Gorham Teachers College, Charlotte dedicated her life to teaching and caring for children. First as a kindergarten teacher, nursery school owner, and later an in-home childcare provider. Charlotte was especially proud that her granddaughter, Jackie, chose to become a teacher.

Charlotte was a lifelong devoted Red Sox and Celtics fan, memorizing the season schedule and hardly ever missing a game on TV. She loved all animals, but cats held a special place in her heart.

Charlotte was happiest enjoying the comfort of her home surrounded by family and the companionship of her beloved cat. Her home was always decorated for every holiday. She will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor.

Charlotte is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa Canales (Joseph), Lori Lancaster (Jeffrey) and Lynn Webb (Cash); her grandchildren, Samuel Canales (Lauren), Kimberly Whitbeck (Andrew), Taylor Pothier (Connor), Joseph Lancaster (Ashley); and forever known as Mamie to her three youngest grandchildren, William Webb, Jacquelyn Webb, and Suzanne "Rosie" Webb; and her great-grandchildren, Layla, Griffin, and Clara; She is also survived by two special sisters-in-law, Suzanne Estes (Tom) and Mary Ellen Dow; dear friend, Martha Doyon, who was like a daughter to her; several nieces and nephews. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Dow; brother, Robert Jude; brother-in-law, Michael Dow; and sister-in-law, Audrey Doggett, with whom she spoke each day, a friendship that meant so much to her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Williams Unit at Ross Manor, with special thanks to her beloved caregiver, April, and Constellation Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
