Charles Timothy Schoppe

HERMON - Charles Timothy "Tim" Schoppe, 87, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 29, 1938, in Auburn, Maine, the son of William F. and Phyllis (Robinson) Schoppe.

Tim grew up in West Auburn, attended local schools, and graduated from Edward Little High School. In 1969, he moved to the Bangor area and settled in Hermon, where he resided for the rest of his life.

Tim began his career at Shawnee Steps in Auburn before serving as president of American Concrete in Bangor, playing a key role in growing the company from the ground up. He and his wife, Joan, later established Downeast Concrete in Hermon. Tim eventually served as a local plumbing inspector for several area towns until his retirement.

Deeply committed to his community, Tim served on the Hermon School Board, the Hermon Town Council, and the board of the United Technology Center (UTC) in Bangor. He was a passionate advocate for education and believed strongly in diverse learning paths.

Tim married Joan Lillian Vye at a young age, sharing 67 years of marriage. Together they raised three children and enjoyed traveling, attending UMaine hockey games, and spending time with their growing family. Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Vye Schoppe; his children, Karen Rublee and her husband, Roddy; Kathie Bradeen and her husband, Mark; and John Schoppe and his wife, Ingrid; his grandchildren, Morgan Rublee, Marissa Campbell, Ellie Bradeen, William Bradeen, and Jackson Schoppe; his great-grandchildren, Ivy Rublee-Jordan and Arlo Rublee-Jordan; his sisters, Carol Wutzdorff, Cathy Hickman, Peggy Tucker, Dorothy Putnam, and Susan Ference; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Sandra Vye; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, William F. and Phyllis Schoppe; his brothers, William and Donald Schoppe; and his sisters, Anne Lacourse and Mary Buker.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Ross Manor for their dedicated care during Tim's stays over the past few years, as well as to his primary care physician of many years, Dr. James Jarvis.

Tim will be remembered for his hard work, his story-telling, his hearty laugh, his stubborn determination, and above all, his deep love for his family.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 11-1:00p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor where a funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service. Interment will be at 12:00p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Brookvale Cemetery, Perkins Ridge Road, Auburn.
