Carl "Spider" Winchester, passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on July 30, 2026, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 21, 1963, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Linwood and Alma (Gleason) Winchester.

Carl graduated from Orono High School, Class of 81. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his Naval career he served on the USS Seattle AD-41 and the USS Yellowstone AOE 3. After his years of dedicated service to our nation at sea, Carl eventually moved back to Maine to settle down. In July 8, 1995 Carl married his true love, Melissa. Together they shared 31 beautiful years of marriage.

Carl was a member of many groups and clubs through the years. He was very proud to be a part of the Troop Greeters, Patriot Guard and the Patriot Riders Riding Club. His passions included motorcycle riding, glass etching, listening to his favorite music, remote control vehicles, fishing and getting tattoos. What Carl loved most was his family, friends and cherished animal companions.

Carl was predeceased by his brothers, Linwood, Franklin, and his twin brother, Samuel.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Daphne; wife, Melissa; son, Ricky; sisters and brother, Marion Gray, Clara Ward, Doris Jordan, Bonni Wood, Eugene Johnson, Kathy Johnson and Susan Willows; grandchildren, Brandon Tice, Jonathan Tice, Alexis Davison, Marissa Davison; Uncle Bubba had many nieces and nephews; special friends, Lisa Dunton-Roy, Jared Thompson and John Ryder.

Graveside services for Carl will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 15, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. A gathering for friends and family will be held at Carl and Melissa's home in Orrington following the service.

Those who wish to remember Carl in a special way may make donations in his memory to The Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue Bangor, ME 04401.
