Bourke Trask

June 13, 1932 — September 6, 2025

Bangor, ME - Bourke "Sonny" Trask, 93, of Bangor, ME peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with his loving wife Esther (O'Brien) Trask and family by his side. 

Bourke was born in Bangor, Maine to Bourke and Evelyn Trask. Bourke was raised with his brother Alvin in Bradford, ME on the Trask Dairy Farm. 

Bourke attended the Bradford Elementary schools grades 1-8 and then for three years he attended Bradford High School. He then went on to Higgins Classical Institute for two years, graduating in 1951. While at Higgins he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. 

After Higgins he went to Husson College for two years. Bourke then volunteered for the U.S. Army. After boot camp he was stationed in Alexandria, V.A. where he was assigned to the prestigious Presidential Honor Guard. After his two years in the Army, he then attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 1960 with his Bachelor's degree in Finance. Bourke and Arilla were married and had their two boys Dale and Stephen in D.C. Soon after they decided to move back Maine to raise their family. 

When he returned to Maine he started working as a stockbroker. He spent 44 years in the business, the last 20 years as Vice President and Manager of the RBC Bangor Brokerage Office. When not working, you could usually find Bourke on the golf course, at camp on the lake, at home mowing the lawn on his favorite John Deere tractor, or spending time with his many friends and family members. 

Bourke was a long-time member of Bangor Rotary, Bangor Shriners, Masons, Boy Scouts, a board member of the Brewer Public Library, a member of the Penobscot Valley Country Club and longtime parishioner and board member at Columbia St. Baptist Church.

Bourke is survived by his wife of 24 years, Esther Trask and his brother, Alvin (Patricia) Trask; grandchildren, Connor (Emily) Trask, Gillian Trask, their mother, Virginia, Wesley and Sabrina Trask, their mother, Sheri; step children, John and Sandra O'Brien; step grandchildren, Shawna (Charlie) Owen, Sarah (Bryan) Levesque, Lynn (Jared) Ridgedon, and Virginia Francis; four special great grandchildren, Owen, Eliana, Behr, and Harper. Bourke is also survived by many deeply loved nieces and nephew Karen, Alexa, Ann, Mary Anne, Melvin, and Ronnie. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Arilla, and two sons, Dale and Stephen.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Visiting Angels and Northern Light Hospice for the care and assistance they provided. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, ME. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, immediately following the service.
