Betty Whitten

Betty A. Whitten, 91, died January 5, 2026 at home. She was born July 22, 1934 in Old Town, the daughter of William C. and Valeria M. (Goodwin) Weatherbee.

Betty graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1952 and then attended Beal College School of Business. She married William A. Whitten and raised their family in Bangor.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Julie Wright and husband, Tony of Rockville, MD., Terrie Whitten and husband, Vince Grifasi, of Charleston, ME., and Valerie Lutterloh and husband, Scott, of Sneads Ferry, NC; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Weatherbee of Bangor; and one sister, Sally O'Neill of Columbia, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, George Weatherbee and Hollis Moores.

A small family interment will be scheduled later in the year. Those who wish to remember Betty in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Shrine Hospital for Children and mail the check to Anah Shriners, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
