Barbara Vickers

July 14, 1942 — April 28, 2022

Barbara A. Vickers, 79, died after a brief illness April 28th, 2022, at a local rehabilitation facility. She was born July 14th, 1942, in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of Rolande Rioux. After the early passing of her mother, she was adopted by her grandparents.
Barbara married the love of her life, October 8th, 1978. They celebrated 43 years together. Barbara retired from Maine Coast Memorial Hospital after many years of service. She was loved by many. Even when she was sick at the end, the staff would come just to sit with her. Barbara is described by all that knew her as the one person that could walk into any room and fill the place with laughter. She especially loved family gatherings. Her life revolved around her family. She would always say ‘the more, the merrier.”
There is so many more wonderful things to be said about this beautiful ‘Barb’, mom, nana, memere, and great nana but it would be a novel.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband, H. James (Jim) Vickers, is her son, Gilles and his wife, Gisele Blanchette of St. Joseph, New Brunswick, Canada; their children; their daughter, Valerie, her husband, Philip, and their son, Sam Couture, of Moncton, NB; their son, Rene-Pierre Blanchette, also of Moncton, NB; her daughter, Johanne Blanchette of Edmunston, NB; her daughter, Lisa and her husband, Rupert(Rusty) Field of Newburgh, ME, along with their children; Russ Field and his wife, Tiffany, and their children, Hunter, Kinley, and Addisyn of Carmel, ME, Chelsea and her husband, Jack Green and their children, Vanessa and Kaylie of Lincolnville, ME; Zachariah Field of Newburgh and Luke Field of Newburgh; her daughter, Tina Carreira, and her fiancé Jonathan Field of Hampden and her children, Elizabeth and husband, Patrick Lombard and their children, Leyla, Avery, and Patrick Jr of Kenduskeag; Dylan Carreira and his wife, Jennifer along with their daughter Molly of Levant, ME; Mariah Carreirra of Newburgh, ME; her son, Ethan Carreira of Hampden, ME; her step-son, Jamie, his wife Anne and their children, Thomas and Katie Vickers; her step-son, Jeffery and his son, Nicholas Vickers; and two-step grandchildren, Evan and Oliver Hafford. She was predeceased by her son, Pierre Blanchette and step-daughter, Heather (Vickers) Hafford.
