Alvera H. Byard
Salt Lake City, UT - Alvera (Vera) Henriksen Byard, wife of the late Walter Robert Byard Jr., passed away on March 6th, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 10th, 1933, in Olamon, Maine, the child of Eli Richardt and Eliza Henrietta Henriksen.
Vera grew up the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Bangor High School and married Walter Robert Byard Jr. of Orono on June 9th, 1952. They eventually settled in Bangor, Maine. She worked as a Clerk-Stenographer for the city of Bangor for many years, eventually serving as a Deputy City Clerk and then City Clerk. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a pianist, organist, and seminary teacher, among other callings. She moved to Utah after her husband passed away and worked as a Legal Secretary for almost 20 years before retiring.
She is survived by her son Robert (Karen) Byard, daughter Catherine Byard, granddaughters Barbara Jensen, Caroline Byard, Emily (Isaac) Zenger, and Susan (Matt) Ervin, and seven great-grandchildren: Melanie, Carter, Ashley, Jessica, Xay, Oliver, and Zoe. Vera was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Raymond Noye, and sisters Viola Hawkins, Blanche Harrison, Asta Blanchard, Olivia Kneale, and Norma Graffam.
