Alfreda Webster

January 14, 1932 — September 20, 2025

Bangor - Alfreda Louise Webster, 93, beloved mother, gram, nana, sister, auntie, and friend to many, passed peacefully on September 20, 2025.

Born in January 1932, she was one of nine children born to Sadie and Harold Lobley of Orrington, ME. Freda (or Fee Fee, as she was affectionately addressed) was married 66 years to Paul Webster of Springfield, ME. Shortly after his return from WWII, they moved to Scarborough, where they lived the majority of their life raising their two children, Paula and Tim.

Freda was an active volunteer for the Red Cross and spent endless hours delivering for Meals on Wheels. Paul and Freda were long-time members of the Black Point Congregational Church. Freda was a member of the Portland Chapter of Eastern Star and The Rebecca's. After Paul retired from the Portland Post Office, they traveled to Florida for the winters and were an active part of the Ocala senior community, continuing their love of volunteering and participating in their local church.

Freda enjoyed exercising at the Brewer Rec three days a week with director, Amy and her fellow senior exercise group. She loved to sing and dance, could play the piano by ear, and was a shark at the game of cribbage. Freda was a passionate Red Sox fan. She knew all the names and stats of every player. Time stood still in the Webster home when the Red Sox were on TV or the radio. When she moved to Bangor in her senior years, her true source of life came from Sundays at the First United Methodist Church of Orrington, a church she had attended, off and on, since early childhood.

Freda was predeceased by her husband, Paul Webster, and son Timothy Webster; brothers: Jake Lobley and wife Thelma, Robert Lobley, Perly Lobley and wife Margaret, Norman Lobley and wife Joyce, and sisters: Gloria York and husband Arthur, Geraldine Grindle and husband Everett.

She is survived by brother Earl Lobley and wife Wendy of San Diego, CA, sister Linda St Louis and husband Billy of Ocala, FL, sister-in-law Julia Lobley of Brewer, ME, her daughter Paula Benoit of Phippsburg, ME, granddaughters Bethany Lotfi of Plainville, MA and her four children; Betsy Varian and husband Rink, of Phippsburg, ME, and their two daughters; Amanda Bengtson and husband Kevin of Aurelia, IA, and their three daughters; and grandson Benjamin Benoit and his wife Evalyn of Hawthorne, CA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, 14 Center Street, Orrington. Interment will be in Dean Hill Cemetery, Orrington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church, located at 14 Center Street, Orrington, ME.
