Albert C. Forget

November 29, 1934 — October 29, 2025

Hampden - Albert C. Forget, 90, passed away October 29, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 29, 1934 in Lowell, MA to Albert L. and Lena (Charity) Forget.

He graduated from Lowell High School and joined the Air Force shortly after. He was stationed in Guam followed by Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, where he met Annette L. Ryan on a blind date. They were married on November 7, 1959.

Upon being discharged from the Air Force, he attended Husson College in Bangor earning a degree in accounting. He later joined the Coast Guard reserves, where he found his passion and served over 20 years. He worked as an accountant his whole life, but he was especially proud of the work he did at Newport Industrial Fabrication before retiring.

Al was an avid fisherman. It didn't matter if it was lake, stream, ocean or ice fishing. He loved it all. He was also a master gardener, often giving away his vegetables to anyone who would take them all summer long. He was a lover of golf playing well into his 80s. He was passionate about baseball his whole life starting with playing as a child in Lowell, playing on his company's softball team as an adult, watching his grandsons play on Little League and school teams and rooting for the Boston Red Sox as a loyal fan. He also enjoyed appearing as Santa for children at Christmastime. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hampden where he was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and also served as a eucharistic minister.

Al cared about everyone he ever met and always had the time to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. He volunteered at the Bangor Soup Kitchen and also donated his accounting expertise by filing taxes for the deaf community in honor of his parents who raised him as deaf/mutes. He had a wide circle of friends who he was always willing to encourage, support, give advice (whether it was wanted or not), laugh and joke with. His friends were friends for life.

He adored his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and attended all of their activities, cheering them on with a big smile on his face. He was always very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Al was predeceased by his parents and brothers-in-law, William Ryan and Michael Langlois. He is survived by his wife, Annette, of almost 66 years; his daughter, Kathryn Gerry and her husband, Daniel, of Hampden; son, Michael and his wife Sheryl, of Ashland, VA; grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Smith, Ryan and Jenna Gerry, Jeffrey and Stephanie Gerry, Elizabeth Forget and Lucie Forget, and great-grandchildren Jacob, Kaden, June, Barrett, Madison and Lucas; sister, Carol Langlois; niece, Danielle and nephew, Michael.
