Alan Gerald Ellis Jr.

DEXTER - Alan Gerald Ellis Jr., 57, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the loves of his life-his wife and children-following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Alan leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen Ellis; sons, Nicholas Mann and his wife Kristy, Michael Ellis and his fiancée Leah, and Paul Ellis; daughter, Valerie Cole and her husband Stuart; grandchildren, Joshua Mann, Alexia Cole, Clara Cole, William Cole, and Oliver Cole; and brothers, Stewart Davis and his wife Nancy, Todd Davis and his wife Randi, and Kevin Davis and his wife Julie. He was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Mary Rowan Ellis; his mother, Claudia Davis; and his very special stepfather, Howard Davis, whom he loved dearly.

From childhood into adulthood, Alan cherished time spent with family and cousins at their family camp in Ripley, fondly named Camp Claudia. During his high school years, he drove for his parents' business, Claudia's Taxi. He later worked at Eastland Mills and Guilford Mills as a weaver and supervisor, and ran his own paintball company for several years. Most recently, Alan operated as a self-employed diagnostics mechanic-receiving much of his work through his brother Kevin at B+K Auto-and built a devoted clientele, many of whom became close friends.

Alan loved good food, especially lobster, seafood, and a great steak at his favorite spot, Texas Roadhouse, where he made many friends over the years. He shared a deeply special bond with his brother, Kevin, and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. He also held a soft spot for the family pets, Cash and Ripley.

An avid gun enthusiast, Alan enjoyed target shooting with family and friends at Paul French's pit and the Big Pine Gun Club. Above all, he loved hosting deck cookouts and gatherings, or simply sitting outside with Karen, listening to music, watching the wildlife, and enjoying a Sam Adams together.

A Celebration of Alan's Life will be held at a date and time to be announced. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
