WILLIAM “BILLY” LAWRENCE ROBERTS

William Lawrence “Billy” Roberts, 66, passed away March 11, 2023, at an Orono health care facility after a long struggle with health issues, with his loving wife and son at his side. He was born August 27, 1956, in Eastport, to Ralph and Shelia Roberts.
In his younger years, he was known for his basketball skills at Shead High. Despite his size, he was a force on the court! Later in life, he worked for the telephone company. It started with New England Tel, Bell Atlantic, FairPoint, and Consolidated. He enjoyed his work, travel, and friends. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors.
Billy is survived by his wife, Margie Roberts, of Schoodic Lake; sons, Travis Roberts and his wife, Michelle, of Orrington, and Evan Stinson and his wife, Mandi, of Austin Texas; grandchildren, Mariah and Marlaina (who are carrying on his basketball tradition), and Kate who also excels in sports); best friend for life, Randy Moores, who has been there through thick and thin; sister, MaryAnn Wiles and her husband, Scott, of Eastport; nieces, Shannon and Allison; brothers, Jim Roberts and his wife, Gail, of East Machias; their son, Hunter; and Wayne Roberts and his wife, Susan; their children, Amanda and Tim.
Per Billy’s request, there will be no service. Family will celebrate his life at a later date. Gifts in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA. 22116, or at a charity of your choice.
