Obituary for Susan Purinton Beaulieu

OLD TOWN - Susan Purinton Beaulieu, 75, passed away May 7, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 26, 1948, in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Dr. William A. and Evelyn (Tracy) Purinton.

Susan graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, she attended Husson College for a year before leaving with her husband and high school sweetheart, Dean F. Beaulieu, for his job in New Jersey. They returned to Maine in 1970 where they made their permanent home.

Susan worked for many years for the City of Old Town and then finally found her niche at Eastern Maine Community College, where she retired in May of 2010. She enjoyed her many flower gardens and working outside with Dean. Great enjoyment was also spent with her grandchildren.

Susan was predeceased by her parents. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Dean F. Beaulieu, are her daughter, Tamathy Sapiel Murphy and her husband, Roger, of Newport, Maine; son, Timothy D. Beaulieu and his fiancee, Kim Dunn, of Glenburn, Maine; grandchildren, Dean A. Sapiel, of Old Town, Maine, Sierra S. Sapiel, of Newport, Maine, Keira Dunn, and Trisha Davis, of Glenburn, Maine; sisters, Judy Shanaberger, of Scottdale, Pennsylvania; and Bonnie Suggs, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10am, Monday, May 15, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at 9:30am, Monday, at the Superintendent’s Lodge, State Street Entrance, Bangor. The family invites everyone to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the service, Monday.
