Obituary for Ronald David Goddard

Ronald David Goddard, Sr. 77, passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born March 26, 1945 in Bangor, the son of Raymond and Phyllis (Shaw) Goddard.

Ron graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1963, and Husson College, Class of 1968, with a degree in business. As a teen, Ron made runner-up at the National Rifle Association Tournament in Ohio for Marksmanship. In his early career, he worked at Motor Truck and Trailer in Hermon. Later, following his true passion of collecting coins and stamps, he opened Down East Coins and Collectibles on State Street in Bangor with his friend, Robert Slamin. Ron volunteered many hours at local assisted living homes and the Bangor Public Library, sharing his knowledge on coins and stamps.

He enjoyed traveling with Roberta, playing tennis, fishing, attending auctions and folk festivals, watching the Red Sox, or just a BBQ gathering with the family. Ron was past president of the Bangor Area Coin Club, and has many awards and trophies from ice fishing and trout fishing.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roberta (Ingalls) Goddard; son, Ronald Goddard Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Yarmouth; daughter, Amy (Goddard) Bryson and her husband, Mike, of Bangor; grandchildren, Cameron Hewins, Michael, Brooklyn, and Brody Bryson, Taylor Ball, and Ivan Goddard. Ron was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Robin (Goddard) Ball; parents, Raymond and Phillis; brother, Ray; brother in law, Bobby Ingalls; and nieces, Tina and Paula Goddard.

Relatives and friends are invited to share memories at the Family Reception Center of Brookings Smith, 163 Center St. in Bangor on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 from 2-4 pm. Ron will be buried at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery in Bangor at a later date.
