Obituary for Lucas Aaron Graychase

Lucas Graychase, 47 passed peacefully at home from a long illness, surrounded by family. He was born January 18, 1976, the son of Burns Gray and Cathy Lee.

Following graduation from Bucksport High School, his career as a Controls and Automation Technician allowed him to travel the world. Beginning at the age of 20, he went to Siberia, Russia for two weeks with a translator in tow. In February 2020 he traveled to Antarctica for 8 months, working as the only Controls Technician for the United States Antarctic research station, a branch of the National Science Foundation. He worked at Nyle, Siemens, Verso, XL Automation and was self employed for many years. His most recent employment was the Brewer School Department as Director of Facilities and Maintenance, which he had hoped to remain until retirement. He was a devoted husband, and his love was unmeasurable.

Surviving in addition to his parents, his wife, Angela Graychase; his son, Bailey Graychase and his partner, Ashley Clark of Milford; daughter, Alyssa Graychase and her partner, Brandyn Findlay of Bucksport; One granddaughter, Peyton Findlay; two sisters, Naomi Graychase of Bucksport, and Courtney Gray and her partner, Brandon Jackson of Newport; grandmothers, Barbara Perry and husband, Bob England of Bucksport, and Ruth Gray of Bucksport. His best friend, Eric Curtis, many aunts’ uncles, cousins, and friends including the community that rallied for Lucas during his battle every step of the way. Lucas was predeceased by his grandfather, Richard Chase, uncle, Rick Chase, grandfather, Leroy Gray, stepmother, Elizabeth Maguire Gray, uncle, Carlton Gray and brother-in-law, Jason DeWitt. A special Thank You to Dr. Cosmina Fachiol who understood and cared for Lucas with dignity and guidance.

Per Lucas’ wishes, in lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory can be made for his cherished Granddaughter- Seaboard Federal Credit Union, 177 Main St. Bucksport, ME. 04416 and must be written out to Peyton Findlay.

Friends may call from 1-3 PM Saturday, May 13th, 2023, at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St. Bangor. Immediately following will be a private service for family and close friends with Rev.
