Obituary for Joan Huntington Leathers (Hanson)
Joan Leathers, 92, passed away March 27, 2023. She was born in Bradford, December 23, 1930 the daughter of Welden and Erdene (Huntington) Hanson.
Joan was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute. She was a member of Aldsworth Chapter #39 OES of Milo. Joan was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time at her camp on Big Boyd Lake.
She was predeceased by her husband Seldon and son, Roger..
Surviving are two children, Carl Leathers and wife Jane of Fairfield; Judy Higgins and partner Jerry of Brewer; grandchildren Chief Petty Officer Jerry Leathers and wife Jean of VA., Patrick O’Connor of Brewer, Alex Leathers of Reading, MA, James Leathers of Winslow; four great grandchildren Kosei, Kokano, Kerri and Kira; a brother Harold Hanson of Dover; a sister Sylvia Goding of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amelio Estates, Woodlands, Beacon Hospice and Gentiva Hospice for the kindness and care given to Joan.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
