Obituary for Arlie Warren Keddrel

Bangor and Hopkinton, NH - Arlie W. Keddrel, 102, died on May 3, 2023 at Presidential Oaks in Concord, NH. He was born March 28, 1921, in Patten, Maine, the son of Perley Keddrel and Rosalind (Drew) Keddrel.

Arlie was a graduate of Patten Academy and attended the University of Maine in Orono before entering the United State Marine Corps during WWII. He was proud to have served his country in the Southwest Pacific and in the Northwest Pacific where he was engaged in action in the Battle of the Ryukyu Islands, known also as the Okinawa campaign. Arlie earned a combat ribbon with battle star for service there.

Upon receiving his honorable discharge in San Diego from the military at the close of the war, he and his wife, Mildred resided in Los Angeles before returning to Maine.
Arlie attended and graduated from Beal Business college under the GI Bill. He was employed by the Bangor and Aroostook RR Co. and by the City of Bangor as a cost accountant from which he retired.

Arlie enjoyed gardening and grounds maintenance, which he unfailingly referred to as mini-farming. He and his wife greatly enjoyed touring the Northern New England States, especially the White Mountains. Also, they loved visiting the Maritime Provinces, Prince Edward Island in particular and also Cape Breton Island.

Arlie was a member of the Glad Tidings Church for more than fifty years. Also, he was a member of the Nature Conservancy long standing.

Arlie was predeceased by his wife, Mildred. He will be greatly missed by the Haney family who reside in Concord, NH, whom he loved very dearly.

A graveside service will be held in the Patten cemetery with a date and time to be announced.
