Condolences & Tributes

We encourage you to share any memorable photos or stories about Ruth. All tributes placed on and purchased through this memorial website will remain on in perpetuity for future generations.

We were raised in Howland when Ruth and her family were all living there. We remember her well even though she was a bit older than us. We remember her and her other siblings when they were in high school. We would have recognized Ruth anywhere. GOD BLESS...may she rest in peace.

Dear Susan and Norma,

We are so sorry to hear of Ruth's death. From her photo, it is clear that Susan inherited her beautiful smile from Ruth, as well as her passion for teaching. Our condolences and love go out to you both, and to the entire Torrey family. May Ruth's memory always be for a blessing.

I had the privilege of working with Ruth when she did a long term sub for a Brewer teacher years ago. She was fun to work with. We spent alot of time talking about her reunions in Deblois which she absolutely loved. We got into geneology and she shared information on her mother who was a "Nadeau".

Dear Susan and Judith,
I remember Ruth fondly from 4 lovely summers at Buckskin Camp in the 1960s. She and Larry created a wonderful atmosphere for fun and adventure, and they made a big difference in my life. I have never forgotten their warmth and kindness. My sincere condolences for your loss. Kingsley Sleight

Dear Susan & Norma,

Our thoughts are with you and the entire Torrey family on the passing of Ruth. We never met your mother, but you don't get such incredible daughters without being an incredible mother. Ruth must have been truly an amazing woman.

Love to you all,

Ruth was such a fun loving person and a
wonderful colleague. I enjoyed working along side of her teaching Kindergarten in Brewer and will always remember the fun memories that were created and the lasting impression that she left upon all of us. She will be very missed but her remarkable legacy will live on within all of us and be remembered by all of those lives that she touched. 💕 My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Fondly,
Margo Barry Grant

Mrs. Torrey was my kindergarden teacher at Capri Street School in 1967-1968. She was an energetic and engaging teacher with a great sense of humor. We enjoyed her very much. May she rest in peace. Thinking of the Torrey family at this difficult time.
