Hampden – Bertha R. Mitchell, 99, died at her home, March 28, 2017. She was born February 16, 1918, in Etna, the daughter of Merton and Avis (Peabody) Ray.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Mitchell, whom she married on July 5, 1942. They were together for the next 40 years, until his death in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Wilson and her husband, Terry, of Hampden; two grandchildren, Scott Wilson and his wife, Theresa, of Dixmont, and Glenn Wilson and his wife, Jodie, of Winterport; four great grandchildren, Sarah, Kayla, Austin, and Allexys Wilson; several nieces and nephews.
