Holden- J. Faye Wolfe, age 67, died unexpectedly at home on December 11, 2016. She was born on March 15, 1949 in Groton, MA the only child of Bruce and Joyce Wolfe.

Faye graduated from the Groton public schools and received a Bachelor’s degree in English Lit. She then earned a Master’s degree at Dubuque Seminary and at Bangor Theological Seminary.

Faye was a free spirit and could be single minded. She loved to feed the multitudes and referred to herself as “The Queen of Portion Control.” She had a long history of cooking which included Alice’s Restaurant on Cape Cod, establishing a Café in Dubuque, Iowa and more recently, starting the community breakfast at First Congregational Church of Brewer all from her passion for feeding the hungry. Over the years she generously cooked Christmas dinners at the church for those who were alone or needed to be with others to celebrate the season.

Music was important to Faye. She sang in the voice choir and played bells in the Paul Caron Memorial Handbell Choir. Her guitars skills were often heard at church services.
In her generous spirit, she loved and cared for furry friends; she was a cat lover. She generously picked raspberries from her backyard to benefit the church. She also dabbed in the blueberry industry in Ellsworth.
Her faith journey led her to preach at the 6 p.m. Sunday service in Brewer and to minister to the Amherst- Aurora Congregational Church for the past four years. Faye found great joy in ministering to her congregation in Amherst.

Faye was committed to her United Church of Christ heritage and for over 25 years, was a friend of Bill W.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her life’s partner, Shirley Hickman. She is survived by several cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
