Obituary for Marguerite L. Cobb (Floyd)

Bangor - Marguerite Floyd Cobb (Margo Cobb) passed away quietly and comfortably with family by her side on 20 June, 2016. Marguerite was born February 16th, 1930, the daughter of Frank H. and Hilda L. (Downes) Floyd. She attended Brewer schools and was a 1952 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono.

Marguerite was the former Vice President and General Manager of NBC affiliate WLBZ Television in Bangor and was active in many community groups. She was a former president of the Greater Bangor Chamber of Commerce, the Maine Broadcaster of the Year in 1981 and President of the Maine Association of Broadcasters in 1980.

Margo was also elected to the National Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors in 1985 and served as Vice Chairman of the National Television Board in 1987.

She was active for many years in community theater groups, and was a long time member and officer of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Margo also served on the Advisory Board of the Eastern Maine Technical College and was a strong advocate for the restoration of Cascade Park in Bangor.

Marguerite is survived by daughter Brenda (Ham) Meehan and husband Doug of Brewer, daughter Margo Ham and husband Frank Hankey of Jersey City, NJ, son Phillip Ham and wife Donna of Norwich, NY and daughter Michele Brown and husband Mark of Carmel, as well as six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and beloved feline companion “Osha”.
