Obituary for Stephen P. Ellis

Stephen P. Ellis, 69, passed unexpectedly, October 9, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. Stephen was born in Bangor, November 23, 1944, the 8th and final child of Blanchard and Leola (Paradise) Ellis.
Stephen attended Kenduskeag schools for much of his younger life. After his schooling, he moved to Boston and joined in the construction business with his brother, Lee. Stephen obtained his CDL license and began driving long distance for many years. Later, Stephen started his own trucking, construction and demolition company, Ellis Trucking. He also worked for many years for his good friend, Buddy Beard at B. Beard Jr. Trucking. Finally, he went to work for another dear friend, Coleman McDonough, with C. P. McDonough Construction.
Stephen knew and appreciated the value of hard work, and although he loved to work, he also took great enjoyment in fishing. He was a fun-loving man, and he made friends with everyone he met. Stephen had a joke or a story for anyone who came along to listen to it. He loved his family dearly and they adored him back. Stephen will be missed by all who knew him, as a man who loved life and everyone in it.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents, four of his siblings, Lee, Roma “Norma”, Annie and Harold; a son, Stephen Ellis, and a grandson, Alex Quimby. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor “Ellie” (Dwyer) Ellis; daughter, Sherry Williams; daughter, Cindy Pender and her husband, Bob; son, Joseph “Jay” Allis and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, Shannon, Shaun, Bethany and Kristie; great granddaughter, Madelyn; siblings, Blanch, Rena and Rita “Dede”; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 3-5 pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be private for the family. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
