BANGOR – Timothy M. Rice, 71, died Oct. 25, 2018 at the Togus Hospice, Augusta. He was born Dec. 26, 1946 in Bangor, son of Frederick M. and Geneva M. (Parady) Rice.

Tim was a graduate of John Bapst High School and the University of Maine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Tim was the former Physical Director of the Bangor YMCA and was involved in many Youth Programs, Camp Prentiss, now Webber, and the Leaders School. Tim had many wonderful years with his Y swim group and will be remembered as a good caregiver, later in his life. He loved the outdoors, exploring backroads, hunting and fishing. He was the owner of Odysey Park in Trenton and many other enterprises.

Surviving are one sister, Marilyn Rice of Brewer; two brothers, Fred Rice and his wife, Elaine of Bangor and David Rice and his wife, Bonnie of Bonita Springs, FL; three nephews, Fred M. Rice of Hawaii, Rich White of Vermont and Andy Rice of Massachusetts; three nieces, Heidi Dunn of Gray, Amy Rice of Alabama and Patricia Leclerc of Camden; many cousins. Tim was predeceased by his parents.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7pm, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites all to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the interment.
