Obituary for Penny Jane Plante (Thomsen)
Penny J. Plante, 69, passed away July 11, 2019, after a long, hard battle with cancer. She was born September 25, 1949, in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Carl N. and Beatrice (Bowne) Thomsen.
Penny graduated from Parsippany Hills High School, NJ, Class of 1967. Following graduation, she entered into the workforce, got married and had 5 children. After the birth of her children, she joined the United States Postal Service, working there for over 33 years, retiring November 2018. In June of 1994, Penny married Andre Plante, and celebrated 25 years of marriage this past June. Penny loved spending time with her many animals, especially her Westies, Kookie and T-Bone.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Peter. Surviving in addition to her husband, Andre Plante, are her daughters, Sherrie DePuy and her husband Brett, of Levant, Stephanie Ter Waarbeek and her husband Chad, of Lincoln Park, NJ; sons, Michael Proudfoot, Jr., of Levant, Dennis Proudfoot, of Carmel, and Nicholas Proudfoot and wife Amanda, of Bangor; 13 grandchildren, Brianna, Cassidy, Noah, Tyler and Emily DePuy, Lacey and Greyson Ter Waarbeek, Austin, Skye, Elijah, and Jackson Proudfoot, and Maximilian and Winn Proudfoot.
Relatives and friends are invited to a gathering of remembrance for Penny, from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, July 16, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
