BANGOR – Thomas “Tom” James Mousseau, 26, went home to be with the Lord October 23rd, 2018. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Elizabeth Levinson Center where he lived for his last ten years. He was born April 29th, 1992, the son of Michael Mousseau and Laurie Dumond.

Tom was an inspiration to all who knew him. Despite all of the struggles he faced with his courageous battle against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Tom took a sincere interest in people and in sharing his faith in God with them. Tom enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots games. He loved to tease those who rooted for the opposing teams, especially when they lost.

Tom graduated from Brewer High School in 2011. He was well liked by his teachers and his peers and was a strong supporter of the hockey and wrestling teams. In the more recent past, Tom volunteered at the Maine Veterans’ Home. Tom loved spending time with the residents and staff at ELC, his second family.
Tom will be dearly missed by his stepmother, Lori Mousseau, and brothers, Jon and Matt Mousseau of Brewer; his sister Kaitlyn Weaver and her husband, Craig Weaver of Winterport; stepfather, Todd Dumond, and sister, Bryanna Dumond of Gray.

Tom was predeceased by his grandmother, Theresa Holt, and uncle, Jeff Mousseau. Survivors include Tom’s father, Michael Mousseau of Brewer; mother, Laurie Dumond of Gray; grandfather, Gerald Holt of Fairfield; grandparents, Jim and Gayle Mousseau of Fargo, North Dakota; and grandmother, Lois Mousseau of Fargo, North Dakota; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who meant so much to Tom and who will miss him. The family is grateful to Evan Nadeau, Tom's cherished friend.

The Celebration of Tom's Life will be held 2:30p.m., Monday October 29th, 2018, at the Rock Church, 1195 Ohio Street, Bangor. Tom wanted an apple tree to be planted in his memory at the Elizabeth Levinson Center. Donations for this project may be sent to the Elizabeth Levinson Center, 159 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME, 04401. Please indicate “Tom’s Tree”. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
