Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth Markey (Tidd)

GREENVILLE – Margaret E. Markey, 97, passed away December 21, 2017 at a Bangor hospital. She was born Mar 17, 1920, in Monticello, the daughter of Eben P. and Levenia (Mortin) Tidd.

Margaret married her husband, Asa C. Markey, on January 11, 1945, and together shared 49 years of marriage. She worked many years as a weather observer and radio operator at Chesuncook Lake for the Maine Forest Service. Margaret enjoyed her flower garden, ice fishing, and making beautiful quilts. In her later years, she enjoyed Wii bowling and other activates at Sunbury Village in Bangor, where she was a resident for several years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by brothers, Malcolm and Leo Tidd; and sisters, Ruther Lawless and Geraldine Davis. Surviving are sons, Edgar Markey and wife, Mimi of Carmel, Ernest Markey and wife, Ellen of Silverthorne, Colorado; a daughter, Maxine Markey of Placerville, California; four grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; niece, Lois Marin of Rumford; and many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Greenville Cemetery a date and time to be announced. A reception will be following the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
