Hope (Redman) Hathorn
Bangor
Hope Hathorn, 93 passed away January 10, 2019. She was born April 2, 1925 the
daughter of Edward S. and Emma (Eames) Redman.
Hope graduated from Bangor High School and then attended the University of
Maine and Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, D.C. After
graduating, she worked for the Committee of Economic Development in
Washington. After the war she returned to Bangor and worked as a service
representative for New England Tel and Tel until her marriage to Donald H.
Hathorn, Jr. in 1949.
Hope was actively involved in various civic organizations doing volunteer work.
She was a member of the Junior League, Athene Club, Shakespeare Club and a
member and past president of PEO Chapter B.
Hope was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years Donald “Bud,”
brothers Robert Redman, Edward H. Redman and sister Gloria Smiley.
She is survived by her son Donald III and his wife Barbara of Carrabassett Valley,
ME, her daughter Constance Travers and her husband Donald of Tucson, AZ.; her
brother Richard Redman and his wife Anita of FL.; four grandchildren Matthew
Travers and his wife Leah of San Diego, CA., Kimberly Dotson and her husband
Aaron of Anchorage, AK., Donald Hathorn IV and his wife Linda of South Windsor,
CT., Heather Driscoll and her husband Sean of Pennington, NJ.; five great
grandchildren Wilder and Linnaea Dotson, Braelyn and Beckett Driscoll, and Freya
Hathorn.
At Hope’s request a private interment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, in the
spring.
