Obituary for Dr. John C. Bjorn

Hampden - John C. Bjorn, 86, passed away on Jan 16, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born in Barre, VT on October 13, 1932 to Mabel (Cayia) Bjorn and Louis M. Bjorn.

John attended Montpelier High School and Yale Medical School before dedicating 60 years of his life to the practice medicine in Hampden, Bangor, Jonesport and Bucksport.

John lead a life of quiet influence. He was a loving husband, a reliable friend and colleague, and a larger than life role model for his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son Rob Bjorn, his brother Bob Bjorn and stepsons, Alan and James Dewitt.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Charlene (Violette) Bjorn; daughter, Roz Reeves and husband, Tom, of Florida, daughter, Pam Peck and husband, Tom, of Frankfort, son, Preston Bjorn and wife, Jeanna, of Hampden, daughter-in-law, Laurie Bjorn of Kennebunk, and step-daughter, Cathy Kowalski and husband, Paul, of Texas.

He shared tremendous pride in his grandchildren, Liza Foley and husband Jon, Riley Cole and Brittany Cole, all of Massachusetts, Rob Peck and wife Amanda of Glenburn, Clark Bjorn of Hampden, Jack Bjorn and fiancé Liz Marcotte of New Hampshire, Ryan Bjorn and fiancé Alexis Hahn of Maryland, Michael Kowalski of Texas and Amie and Mae Dewitt of Japan. Six beautiful great grandchildren were the source of much joy and laughter in recent years.

Relatives and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 25th at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 63 Center St., Bangor where an informal sharing of memories to celebrate John’s life will begin at 6:00 p.m.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
