Obituary for Evangeline Burnett (LaPointe)

Evangeline Burnett (LaPointe)
BANGOR – Evangeline Burnett, 88, passed away April 13, 2018, going home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family. She was born April 23, 1929, in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Leo and Leona (Goudreau) LaPointe. She later became a Naturalized Citizen of the United State, the country she loved.
Evangeline married the love of her life, Richard Burnett, on June 23, 1966, and they spent 46 years together. In the early years, she worked at Viner Shoe Company and Bauer Skate, both in Bangor. When Evangeline and Richard began Burnett Well Drilling, she became a full time homemaker, which was her passion. She was a great cook and feeding her family was one of her favorite things in her life, and her portions were never skimpy. Evangeline was a skilled seamstress and decorated her home with the skill of an interior designer. Perhaps her greatest love was music, often saying she couldn’t imagine life without it. She and her sisters, Eileen and Jeanne, as young children would sing at a Grange Hall in Sebec. Evangeline and Richard were good dancers and enjoyed going to dances with their good friends, Ted and Kay McLeod. She found her church home at Calvary Chapel in Orrington, with her daughters, and it was there she became a born again Christian. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Richard; a brother, Larry LaPointe; nephews, Wayne Perkins, Jimmy Perkins, and Glen LaPointe. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Garland of Bangor, Mark Burnett and wife, Dawnalyn of Holden, Diane Chase of Bangor; grandchildren, David Garland and wife, Shara of Saco, Meghann Burnett of Columbia, SC, Zachary Burnett of Boston, MA; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Ken Graves, Pastor of the Calvary Chapel, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 12 noon until time of service, Sunday. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hermon, in the spring. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
