Millard Myron “Bumpa” Smith, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida surrounded by his loving family, December 11, 2017. He was born in Newburgh, April 30, 1933, son of Millard C. and Audrey F. (Thorndike) Smith.
He attended Newburgh schools then began farming, a family business, which consisted of dairy, maple syrup and turkeys. They were known as Smith’s Dairy Farm and Smith’s Turkey Farm.
After retirement, he spent winters in Florida and summers in Newburgh. Myron was a member of Archon Lodge #75 AF & AM of East Dixmont, and Anah Shriners, Bangor.
He loved hunting, fishing, boating, traveling and flying his airplane, but his greatest love and enjoyment came from his loving family.
He was predeceased by a son, Dwight Smith, a son-in-law, Mike Chadbourne and a brother, Richard Smith.
Surviving are, the love of his life for 30 years, Jo Anderson of Kissimmee, FL. and Newburgh; children, Dennis Smith and his significant other, Sherry, Dwayne Smith and his wife, Leona, Dianne Chadbourne, Doug Smith and his wife, Sherry and Dawna Smith, all of Newburgh; twelve grandchildren, Ritchie, Dwight, Jessica, Angelia, Fleshia, Amy, Scott, Jody, Jennifer, Megan, Darren, and Lauren; twenty great grandchildren who were all very special to Bumpa, and one brother, Adelbert Davis and his wife Anita of Titusville, FL.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 12- 2pm. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm. Spring interment will be in Knowlton Cemetery, Newburgh.
