Obituary for Margaret A. Prouty (Fessenden)

Margaret A. Prouty (Fessenden)
BANGOR – Margaret A. “Peggy” (Fessenden) Prouty, 63, went to be with her parents October 7, 2017. She was born September 2, 1954, in Bangor, the daughter of Paul F. and Eleanor M. (Raynes) Fessenden Sr.

Peggy attended and graduated from Bangor schools. She graduated from Bangor Community College. Peggy was a very creative person; painting, and making many crafts throughout her lifetime. She made hundreds of these creations, many of which she sold during the holiday season. Many family members are fortunate to have samples of her works. Peggy spent many years in North Carolina where she raised her three children. She worked for the Wilson school system as a teacher’s aide where she was loved by the students and staff. Peggy relocated back to the Bangor area during the 1990’s due to illness. She truly enjoyed her plain M&M’s, and always had plenty on hand. Peggy will be greatly missed by those who knew her for her million dollar smile, sense of humor, and her love of singing.

Peggy is predeceased by her parents. Surviving are a son, Brian Prouty; twin daughters, Julie Clark, and Melissa Whitley; six grandchildren; a sister, Linda Catterson and husband, Richard; brothers, Paul Fessenden Jr. and wife, Louise, Donald Fessenden and wife, Sandy, Richard Fessenden and wife Judy, and Joseph Fessenden and wife, Lisa; Aunt Barbara and Uncle Allen Jamieson; and a cousin, Allen Jamieson and wife, Cathy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to those who provided special care to Peggy during her stay at Brewer Healthcare and Rehab. The family would also like to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Beacon Hospice for their care and support for Peggy during her last days.

Funeral Prayers and the Rite of Committal will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Peggy in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Brewer Healthcare and Rehab Activity Department, 74 Parkway South, Brewer, ME 04412. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
