Obituary for Christina Maxine Read (Lawson)

Stillwater - Christina M. Read, 91, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at Orono Commons. She was born January 2, 1926 in Bangor, the daughter of Walden E. & Daphne (Nason) Lawson. Christina was the co-owner of Read'ss Bakery in Old Town with her husband for almost 20 years. She was also a co-owner of Ray's Drive-in in Brewer. She loved all of her customers and daily conversations. Christina was the Charter President of the Old Town Hockey Boosters and she also started the Old Town Baseball Farm League in 1969. She loved being with her husband and son with whom she shared a love of sports. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Walden, Russell, and Emery Lawson; sister, Eleanor Eldridge; brothers-in-law, William Travis and Roland Eldridge, sisters-in-law, Betty & Lena Lawson. Surviving in addition to her husband of 51 years, Bernard, is her son, Andrew Tripp, daughter-in-law, Kerrie, grandson, Wendel Cross and her dog Elliot. She is also survived by Richard Lawson & Marsha, Gregory & Vivian Lawson, Marguerite Travis, Eleanor & Hazen Bagley, Arlene & Richard Deshane, Allen & Veronica Read, as well as many nieces and nephews. Christina would like to recognize her special friends Neil & Alean, Don and Velma Steward and her special cousin Theresa Chreighton. The family would like to thank the staff at Orono Commons for their wonderful care of Christina. We would like to extend a special thanks to Buffy, Shirley, Theresa and Karen for all they have done. She will be dearly missed by all of her feathered and furry friends from her backyard.
