Dorothy Ruth Pomeroy, 92, was reunited with her beloved husband Ken on July 27th, 2017. Dorothy, the daughter of Helen and Clarence Murdock, grew up in Providence, Rhode Island as one of seven girls. She moved to Maine as a young adult where she raised her five children; Jack Peters (Jane), Joyce Pomeroy, Russell Peters (Lori), Lenny Peters, one day old daughter Lorraine Joan, and Nona Jenkins (Peter), along with the help of Ken, (“Papa”) who she married in 1973. Dot and Ken lived in his family home in Hampden where they enjoyed 41 years together. During her working years she established her own children’s toy distribution company, later becoming the first woman elected President of the International Management Council for Bangor-Brewer Chapter. As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bangor, she enjoyed singing in the choir, leading the cherub choir, later becoming a member of the West Hampden Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, including many grandchildren and great grandchildren, family celebrations, camping, boating, and yard sales. Dorothy will forever be remembered for her kindness, cheerful spirit, positive attitude, and unconditional love.
Funeral services will be held 11 am. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the West Hampden Baptist Church, 574 Western Ave, Hampden, where relatives and friends are invited to call 10 am until time of service. Burial directly following at Locust Grove Cemetery Main Road, Hampden, with a reception following at the church.
