Obituary for Marion Lucille CoWallis

M. Lucille (Burgess) CoWallis passed away peacefully, May 16, 2017, at a Bangor hospital with her daughter, son and daughter- in- law at her side. Lucille was born April 16, 1926 to Elias and Margaret (Cheverre) Burgess.

Lucille worked for many years hand sewing shoes for factories in Bangor and Braintree MA.. She and her husband Arthur, owned and operated the Neighborhood Mkt on the corner of Stillwater and Grove streets in Bangor and they were co-owners of Bear Paw Lodge in Greenfield. She retired from working in the laundry at Bangor Motor Inn at the age of 88, in July of 2014.

Lucille was a quiet, loving person that always had a smile. Her hard work ethic is an inspiration to all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Linda (CoWallis) Marchand and husband William, her son David A. CoWallis Sr. and wife Debbie; grandchildren, David A. CoWallis, Jr. and wife Nicole, Shane Marchand and wife Brooke, Danean (CoWallis) Hamm and husband Phil; great- grandchildren, Corbin, Colvin Hamm, Payton, Alex, Mia Cate, Nicholas and Emme Marchand; sisters, Gene Greene, Aileen Seguino, Joanne Orcutt and husband, Sib, Shirley Hurry; brother and sister- in- law Bob and Anna Co-wallis; many nieces and nephews too numerous to list.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur C. CoWallis; her parents; her brothers, George “Lindy” and wife Marion Burgess, Richard and wife Phyllis Burgess, Dale and wife Lottie Burgess, Ernie and wife Ernestine Burgess, Charles Burgess; a sister, Anna Bart.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. The family invites all to a reception in the parish hall, after the service.
