Obituary for UllaBritt Margareta Andersson

Bangor – Ulla-Britt Andersson, know to her friends as Ulla, passed away on May 12, 2017. Ulla was born in Stockholm Sweden on February 9, 1944.

She first came to the U.S. in 1963 as an au pair for a family in Oakland CA and then on to a similar position in the “Big Apple”. Next was an opportunity to work as a flight attendant for Overseas National Airways (ONA), a charter airline that had a worldwide footprint. Many crew changes and layovers in Bangor led to a familiarity with the area and Ulla, like a number of others of the ONA gang, relocated here in the 70s. She then held a number of positions in hospitality management before medical issues brought an early retirement in the late 90s.

Ulla was independent, creative and hardworking and always maintained a special dry sense of humor while taking whatever life dealt her in stride. She had a unique and beautiful soul and never missed an opportunity to make you laugh.

Ulla is survived by her sister and brother in law Irene and Hank Goodman of Palm Beach FL and friends and extended family in the Bangor area.

A special thanks to the residents and staff at Freese’s Assisted Living who have been like family to Ulla for the past 15 years and to the staff at Beacon Hospice and Bangor Nursing and Rehab who helped keep her comfortable these past few months.
