Obituary for John Uldall Dircksen

GALLOWAY, N.J. and BANGOR, ME – John Uldall Dircksen, 86, husband of Suzanne R. (Gildart) Dircksen, died May 6, 2017 at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in New Jersey. He was born September 28, 1930 in Portland, Maine, son of Johannes and Etta L. (Fish) Dircksen.

John was a graduate of Machias High School, class of 1948 and graduated from the University of Maine in 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany, on duty with “AAA” Artillery Unit. John began a banking career in 1955, continuing to 1991. He was employed by the Merrill Trust Co. of Bangor, ME, Citizens National Bank of Los Angeles, CA and Boardwalk National Bank of Atlantic City, NJ. He was a member VFW Post #10620 of Pomona, NJ and the Harwood Lodge #91 AF & AM of Machias, ME.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Suzanne of Galloway, NJ are one niece, Rita O’Day of Brewer, Maine, one nephew, David H. Dircksen of South Berwick, Maine, two cousins, Madelyn Sweet of Bucksport, Maine, and Barbara Fish of Jonesboro, Maine. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Carl Dircksen, brother, Henry A. Dircksen and two sisters, Helen Dircksen and Louise (Dircksen) Watts.

A Masonic graveside service will be held 1pm Thursday May 11, 2017 in the Longfellow Cemetery, Machias, ME conducted by the Officers and members of Harwood Lodge #91 AF & AM of Machias, ME.
