Obituary for Donald Lee Davis

Donald Lee Davis
STETSON- Donald Lee Davis, 80, died peacefully with family by his side on April 11, 2017. He was born September 20, 1936 in Ferndale, Michigan, the son of Curtis Monroe Davis and Nellie Cunningham. Donald was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Francis Hyslop, both parents, and siblings; Jack Davis, Barbra Beschoner, and Leroy Davis.

Donald, best known to all as, “Pops”, married the love of his life, Margaret, on August 11, 1956. They had 46 beautiful years together and raised four children. Pops spent most of his career in mining and construction and traveled much of the U.S. and Canada with his family by his side. Pops’ other true loves were fishing, hunting, trips up to camp, and telling stories of his past adventures.

He is survived by one brother, Edis and his wife, Geraldine, of Florida; his daughters, Dondra Gage and her husband, Don, of Macedon, NY, Robin Thompson and companion, Bob Frantz, of Kimball, MI; two sons, Curtis “Bud” Davis and wife, Tina, of Stetson, and Donnie Davis of Stetson. Six grandchildren, Casey, Blake, Josh, Mackenzie, Joe, and Taylor; four great grandchildren, Hunter, Baileigh, Abel, and Beau. Lastly, his faithful black lab, Buddy, who stuck by his side and gave him comfort for 13 years.

As a family, we’d like to extend a special thanks to, Hospice of Eastern Maine for their tireless support and comfort.

We know heaven wouldn’t be complete, without a special road called “Tough Street.” God reserved the last house, the back apartment, and the last room for Pops, because we all know the further you go on Tough Street, the tougher you are.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, at Clyde Township Cemetery, 3399 Vincent Road, North Street, Michigan 48049. Those who wish to remember Pops in a special way, may make contributions for the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123 as this held a special place in his heart.
