Gerald Edward  McKay
MILFORD - Gerald Edward McKay, 65, passed away suddenly at home on March 15, 2017. He was born in Bangor February 14, 1952 the son of Janet (Hersey) and Wilfred “Raymond” McKay.

Gerald worked extremely hard and was very proud to get his high school diploma from Orono High School. He worked for 26 years at the Penobscot County Court House in Bangor as a custodian. He loved to listen to his ham radio, scanner, and CB. He was a good friend, a special brother, and an excellent son. He was his mother’s “Knight in shining armor.”

In addition to his mother, Janet, Gerald is survived by three brothers and their wives: Scott and Diana, of Mariaville, Edward and Edith, of Carolstown, TX, and Kevin and Alice McKay, of Old Town. He has three sisters and their husbands: Judith and James Dean of Perry, Robin and John Grigsby of Portland, and Candi and Ed Hackett of Bangor. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends. He was predeceased by his father and many special aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank anyone who befriended and was kind to their brother; he will be missed greatly.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Orono Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 72 Main St., Orono, with his brother, Ed, officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to call 1 p.m. until time of the service. Interment will be in the spring. Those who wish to remember Gerald in a special way may make may make gifts in his memory to the Veazie Fire Department, 1084 Main St., Veazie, ME 04401.
