Obituary for Sandra Elizabeth Tibbetts (Wilbur)

BREWER AND BANGOR – Sandra E. Tibbetts, 82, passed on March 9, 2017, at her residence in Brewer. She was born August 9, 1934, in Bangor, the daughter of Bernard Sr. and Rubye (Darling) Wilbur.

Sandra graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1954. Following graduation, she was employed by Rice & Miller as a secretary, Viner Shoe as a department head, Brewer School System as a teacher’s aide, and a secretary at Pine Tree Business Machines. Sandra was 50 year member and past worthy matron of Jonathan Hunt, Chapter #90, OES, of Hermon. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and reading, but most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, Bernard Wilbur Jr. and wife Mildred, sisters, Nancy Slusser and her husband, Kenneth, and infant Patricia Wilbur, and a nephew, Kurt Slusser. Surviving, in addition of her husband of 56 years, Dennis A. Tibbetts, are daughters, Lorie Tibbetts, Karen Henderson and significant other Gary Carr; granddaughter, Ashlie Henderson and husband David Garcia; three very special great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kendra, and Elliyana; a brother, Paul Wilbur and wife Phyllis; a very dear nephew, Mark Slusser and wife Vicki; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong dearest friend, who was more like a sister, Marillee (Brophy) Harding.

A memorial reception will be held 1-3 p.m, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Family Reception Rooms of the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. Interment will be at Marston Cemetery, Orrington, at a date and time to be announced. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Brookings-Smith.com
