Orono – Gloria Kral Buntrock died November 26, while in Hospice Care at Eastern Maine Medical Center, in Bangor, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was born March 31, 1942, in Orrock Township, MN.

She graduated from Edison High School, in Minneapolis, in 1960, with honors, and graduated from Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She married Robert Buntrock, of Minneapolis, on June 24, 1961. She was a Braille transcriber for 33 years, specializing in Math and Science Braille, and Braille computer entry. She founded and managed Naperville Area Transcribing for the Blind, Naperville, IL. She was a member of the National Braille Assn. for 36 years, including Presidency. Upon moving to Princeton, MN, she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, choir, and the quilting group as well as the hospital auxiliary. Upon moving to Orono, she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bangor, including choir, quilting group, and kitchen help, as well as the Orono Quilters.

Formerly, Gloria was an accomplished pianist and organist as well as a soloist and choir member. She also played recorders and hand bells. She was an accomplished seamstress, crafter, and knitter and was still knitting scarves for the homeless when she passed away. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by husband Robert and daughter Christine Selby, both of Orono; son Stephen of Glen Ridge, NJ; five grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., Bangor, with Pastor Rebecca Liberty and Pastor Elaine Hewes officiating.
